Project in the spotlight:
Optimization of internal transport for a Toy manufacturer’s distribution center

Challenge
A leading toy manufacturer faced the challenge of optimizing the efficiency of internal transport at their distribution center in Dundalk, Ireland. The goal was to improve the internal logistics processes through the installation of a conveyor belt system that would ensure the smooth and reliable flow of products.

Objective
To achieve an efficient internal transport system by installing roller conveyors, resulting in increased productivity and reduced operating costs. The system had to be both mechanically and electrically reliable, with a focus on durability and ease of maintenance.


Implementation
OBS Techniek was responsible for the mechanical and electrical installations in this project and carried out the following work:

  • Mechanical installation: The team of 5 mechanical installers, led by a specialized supervisor, installed the conveyor belts according to the design plan. This included the assembly of supporting structures, rollers, and drive systems.
  • Electrical installation: A team of 5 electrical installers, also under the guidance of a supervisor, handled the electrical wiring and integration of the control systems. This included the installation of motors, sensors, and control cabinets.
  • Coordination and supervision: Both the mechanical and electrical teams worked closely together to ensure seamless integration, with weekly progress reports and quality checks.
